Let the Police Blotter explain....

No.

One.

Commented.

You aren't just a

weensy

bit

curious??

Well, I would like to use our local newspaper's recent Police Blotter

to help to explain WHY we are moving....

We LUV this little Norman Rockwell town....

so....you may be wondering WHY we would leave such a sweet little place?

Are the people in your little town mean to you?

Awww...shucks, no!  The people here are just the salt-of-the-earth type...

{ A man missing his upper teeth reportedly was prowling around a complex in town. }

and pretty easy going...

{ A man dressed in black reportedly took some snacks from a table in a person’s backyard

on 11th Avenue, hung out for a while and then took off.  }

And boy! The children here are just too adorbs!!

{ A dime reportedly was glued to a keyhole on a door on North Alder Street so the resident

could not get inside. }

Has the economy been hard on the farmers?

Oh my goodness!  My little town has a ginormous hay industry...

{ Large hay bales reportedly were blocking both lanes of Vantage Highway. }

and it looks like they are just T H R O W I N G their hay around!  They're rolling in it!

hahahaha!

Besides farmers...what else is there?

Well...my little town has a college with state-of-the-art research labs....

{ A biology student reportedly was doing research in the street on North Alder Street. }

So, with a college in town, there must have a pretty lively night life...right?

Of course!

{ A person on Cherry Lane reported that an unknown person rings the doorbell at night. }

And...cool stuff happens here all the time!

{ An octopus, that appeared to be deceased, reportedly was hanging from a tree on East
Seattle Avenue --even though we are 200 miles and a ferry ride away from the beach! }

Aren't the winters there kind of long?
Oh, sure...but you get used to it...in fact, cabin fever is a real disease around here...but
springtime is always the cure!
{ A man reportedly was running with a traffic cone on his head and stumbling into traffic on
University Way. }

Okay, come on...there MUST be a downside...
{ A llama reportedly was running down the roadway on Smithson Road. }
okay, yeah...sometimes the animals get a bit out of control...

Does that help answer all of your questions?
:: Clapping my hands!! ::
Hooray!!

If you have any more questions...you just ask away!!

The wild, wild? West! The Police Blotter tells all....

It's the Wild West out here,
or so people say...
BUT
we don't necessarily think so...

B U T...
then again...
I looked at today's local newspaper
and gasped!

The Police Blotter was
L O N G...

Okay, so perhaps there might be a bit o' truth
in that old saying...

Ya know,
our police do get a lot of wild calls
and everyone knows that
those guys don't get paid enough
to be in the line of duty
here.
It's downright dangerous!

Here's a sampling of what these courageous men and woman
(Yes! we just got ourselves a lady cop!  woot!)
ahem.
have to deal with:

A driver swerved to avoid hitting a coyote and put his dump truck trailer in a ditch on Thrall Road.

Two children reportedly were chasing deer with shovels. (note: just checked..and those were NOT my children)

A broken water pipe was reported.

Four goats reportedly were found grazing in a field on Creek Road and the reporting party didn't know who owns the goats!  (note: NOT my goats...wrong road!)

A trailer was sticking out into the road on University Way.

A woman was sitting in a mud puddle on Canyon Road.

A person was came to a house on Second St and requested a sleeping bag.

A man on his knees in a field appeared to be hitting something.

A man, who possibly was under the influence, reportedly drove his vehicle with a flat tire up on a sidewalk on First St. because he didn't have a jack and wanted to jack it up.

A woman reportedly was knocking on a door on East Way telling the resident to open the door. (I was confused about this crime--but maybe folks in the city know more about it??)

An intoxicated man was looking for an officer to find out if he could get a DUI on a bike.

A driver failed to signal while turning onto Main St. from Fourth Ave.

AND my favorite...'cause I got to see this one going down!! (needed binoculars though):

A woman in the Badger Pocket reportedly was having a civil dispute with a person who would not remove 80 head of cattle from her property.  (Civil? Ha!  My foot!  There were no less than 4 cop cars there and one was twirling it's lights!  Super cool.)

Ohhhhh Boy!
Today's Police Blotter just went
on
and
on
and
on!

I'm just shaking my head
because
I certainly don't see how crime could git much worse!

Of course,
I know I feel safe here in my home at night
but that's only because
we have our guard dog:
' Biskit '
here to protect and serve us.
' Biskit '
Our Fearless Guard Dog

Now, be careful when you come to visit!
I mean that...
I.
do.

Them cows and horses tend to leave a lot of pies
just everywhere
and
you might step in one.

So be careful.
Where you step.

Now that you've been properly warned:
I will leave you with
a piece of homegrown truth:

Eat some meat...
the West wasn't won on salad.

The Police Blotter: Bustin' our buttons...

Yep, we're bustin' our buttons over here.

Folks have been approaching my husband and asking if it's true.
Yep.
It. Is. True.
We are the proud owners of 5 goats that luv to run fer tha hills!
And it got reported to the po.
AND it made the police blotter in our local newspaper.

That's our goaties!
Wild and loose!
Born free!
No amount of electricity can fence them in!

"Five goats were in the road on Fourth Parallel Road."

Now THAT mystery is solved...but there are others.....
{dark, sinister music here..}
that were reported to the police over the last day or two...
maybe you will be the one who solves the crime!
Read on...

A man with a flashlight was walking back and forth on Chestnut St.
My theory:  He was looking for his goats.

A glove reportedly was lying in the street near a black Jetta with its driver door partially ajar on Alaska Avenue.
My theory:  Aliens.

A person reported that a vehicle parked at the high school was covered in mud and may have been mudding.
My theory:  Yep...and now them boys are askin'..."whatcha gonna do 'bout it mister?"

Leather working equipment and chaps reportedly were stolen on Creek Rd.
My theory:  Aliens.  Cowboy aliens.

A person appeared to be asleep in the back of a vehicle parked at the railroad tracks.
My theory:  Yep...looks like a crime is being committed.

A woman reported that juveniles put a latch over the door to her business on First Street and she was unable to get out.
My theory:  ROFL...I don't know!  Juvenile aliens??

A man reportedly entered a business on Pine St. through the front door asked what time it was, and then left through the back door.
My Husband's theory:  He needed to program his terrorist bomb.

A man reportedly entered a business on Main St., asked for a cup of ice, then took a cigarette out of the ashtray outside the business.
My theory:  When the authorities ask for people to call in suspicious activity...this ain't it.

A man entered a business on Main St. and looked around for cameras.
My theory: This is exactly why we don't know what aliens look like...they have a front man looking for the cameras.

A man reportedly was seen looking into the window a house on Brook St. and when asked what he was doing, he said he was looking for his dog.
My question:  Why weren't you neighborly and offer to help him find his dog?  ;P

A person on Cherry Lane reported that people have been telling their dog to attack the person's cat.
My theory:  Ha ha!  Hey, in your neighborhood, it's not news that your neighbors hate your cat...I've seen the betting pool.

Loud rap music was reported on Second Ave. and the reporting party said it was being played to annoy the reporting party after they got in an earlier dispute over a dog.
My theory: Thems fightin' words....???

A man reported that his car alarm went off.
My theory:  Perhaps we have some mischievous garden gnomes!?  Oh, yeah that's silly...it's probably just those aliens.

A man carrying a five gallon bucket reportedly was crossing the highway and the reporting party was concerned it might be oil and he would dump it in the water.
I say:  Sir, obviously you've spotted some type of criminal activity...why don't you just ask the guy what he's up to?  You're nervous? Well, then, just take your mace with you.

A man reportedly sprayed himself in the face with Mace.
I say:  Never mind.

Two people reportedly were sitting inside a vehicle on North Avenue and turning the inside light on and off several times.
My theory:  Some people don't recognize a bit of fun...even when it's flashing in their face!

Well, these were real calls made to the police
by real people
about their very real suspicions
and I have mocked them all....

My work here is done.

The Police Blotter: Christmas Cheer and all that stuff!

Oh Boy!  It's not Christmas until Sunday, yet folks here are in a giving mood. Even though we all seem to have less this year, it seems like people are trying to do their best to spread the cheer around.  There have been many calls for donations of food and presents for those who are in need.  In fact, with all the shopping, collecting, giving, wrapping, baking and 4H parties, some are in a state of exhaustion and not thinking clearly.  Of course, some folks are just perpetually partying.

You just know these happy lil' incidents will be called into the emergency lines by the cranky Scrooge's around here......

People reportedly let their llamas and other animals loose
to run around in the road on Smith Road.
Everyone gets a party!!  Run wild!

A person reportedly threw a metal rod
through a vehicle window on University Way.
:: Cringe ::  Bad aim there!
Let's play the 'Who Gets Santa's Branding Iron?' game
in the pasture without cars!

A bus driver took knives from a student.
:: SWEET ::
Who ever thinks of the bus driver?
Yeah, I know...when he misses picking up yer kid in the morning! ha ha!
But, this was very thoughtful...
must be one of those honor students you hear about.

People in a Toyota pickup were trying
to throw items at passing vehicles.
In the country, the parties tend to get a bit rowdier!

Ammo reportedly was scattered in the roadway on University Way.
Cows reportedly were in a person's front yard on River Road.
See what I mean?
It's like an all day Christmas party in our county!
Folks are generously giving with both their hands.

Hey, for the past week I could have been reporting cows in my front yard-
but my neighbors keep insisting that I send them back home.
What's that about?
Such teases!

Car parts were scattered on Airport Road.
Seriously?
We has an airport?
Does it have international flights?
I want to go to Europe...
and get away from this Christmas madness!!
ha ha ha!!!

I hope your hometown is just as merry and bright!
It's a Wonderful Life around here.

Merry Christmas!!

The Police Blotter: Not in Las Vegas

We're having quite a time here...well...those of us who were left behind.  The National Rodeo Finals is being held in Las Vegas Nevada and many of us had to miss it.

Some folks are just plain cranky that they were not fortunate enough to go:

A dog reportedly was barking on Third Avenue.

Really cranky.
A dog reportedly was still barking on Third Avenue.

Other folks have gotten a bit distracted while rooting on their favorite cowboy to win a certain competition

A vehicle struck a cinderblock in a parking lot of Main St.
A person saw three trucks with keys in the doors on Main St.

It's a tempting thought to run away and live the romantic, cowboy lifestyle.  It's a hard thing to pull off though...

A woman reportedly stole a man's horse and told him she sold it,
but the man reportedly found out that she still had the horse.

Some folks had to stay behind to take care of the cowboy's daily, dirty work...but a cowboy's life isn't all, as they say; wine, women and song.

A cow reportedly was walking down the road on Thrall Road.
Horses were abandoned on Pasco Road.

In fact, things are starting to get out of control, so maybe it's time for our cowboys to come home...

A person on Lincoln St. continues to let a Chihuahua run loose and defecate in the neighbor's lawn.
Several women reportedly were fighting in a bar on North Street.

Hurry back soon guys!

The Police Blotter: It's the Little Things that Annoy...

Today while I was looking at yesterday's local newspaper (No one got the paper for me yesterday.  Huh.  Who expected me to walk all the way over to the mailbox?  HELLO!  It's, like, cold outside.  Why did I have children?!  Anyways...) I was looking at the infamous Police Blotter and got a bit bored.  Sadly, there was nothing dramatic, amazing or funny.  Sigh.  But, I decided to plow through, find the best bits and report them anyways (I'm so responsible!!):

*A DOG reportedly tried to kill a chicken.
(Surprise!)

*Four DOGS reportedly were covered in porcupine quills on Creek Rd.
(Ha Ha!  That is a bit funny...hmm..)

*A person expecting a package didn't receive it on Capitol Avenue.
(Sigh)

*A person came to a door and said he was looking for someone.

A Boxer was running loose down Capitol Road.
(I fell asleep reading this...)

A Border Collie was running loose down Main St.
(Should I be alarmed?)

Lately, it seems like daily, mundane aggravations are being reported to the police.  Perhaps some folks need to get outside for some fresh air.  (Yeah, I'm on my couch--but I'm not calling the Po over every little thing!)

Then, I remembered something I had read a few months ago...
so let's get some perspective on life...

Lessons from 9/11, the annoying little things:
  • As you might know, the head of a major company survived the tragedy of “9/11” in New York because his son started kindergarten.
  • Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
  • One woman was late because her alarm clock didn’t go off in time.
  • One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
  • One of them missed his bus.
  • One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
  • One’s car wouldn’t start.
  • One went back to answer the telephone.
  • One had a child that dawdled and didn’t get ready as soon as he should have.
  • One couldn’t get a taxi.
  • The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.
Now when I am stuck in traffic…
      – miss an elevator…
      – turn back to answer a ringing telephone…
      – all the little things that annoy me…
      – I think to myself…
this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment.
The next time your morning seems to be going wrong,
      – the children are slow getting dressed,
      – you can’t seem to find the car keys,
      – you hit every traffic light…
      – don’t get mad or frustrated;
God is at work watching over you.
May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things – and may you remember and appreciate their possible purpose.

Today is December 7th:  The 70th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day.  Until September 11,
2001, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, stood as the most devastating enemy attack on US soil. Both
have been defining moments in our nation's history.  Each caught the country by surprise,
rallied the people against the attackers and was the beginning of a long, difficult war.

Pearl Harbor:  more than 2400 Americans dead--military.
September 11th:  almost 3,000 Americans dead--civilians.

Let us never forget our fellow Americans who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Maybe we could do that...
by letting all those little things that irritate or frustrate...
be okay.
Stop and smell the roses like Biskit!
Oh dear...yer smellin' too hard there Hope! ;)

The Police Blotter: A Typical Thanksgiving Weekend Here.

In our town, the recent Thanksgiving holiday and weekend was an unnaturally busy time of feasting, hunting, and merry making.  Our local newspaper, in it's tradition of excellence, captured the moments beautifully.

THE VISITORS....came in cars and parked them...
It looks like a lot of folks had plenty of family and friends around their table for Thanksgiving Dinner.  With so many visitors to our fair county, the congestion not only made for crowded conditions along roadways...it also added to the busyness of such an important day.
*A pickup reportedly was blocking a lane of travel on Pearl St.
*A truck with a camper towing a trailer was parking in a turn around.
*Vehicles were blocking driveways on Forest Service Rd 5400 near the pass.
*A vehicle was blocking a driveway on Brooks Road.
Just like everyone else, I too get annoyed when I can't drive down the middle of the road.  But why git a bee in yer bonnet when you KNOW it's a holiday?

Of course, getting off to the event was the other half of the confusion around town...
*A woman left her residence and locked it, but when she returned it was unlocked.  When she left again for Thanksgiving dinner and returned, it was unlocked again.

*A door to a residence was left open on River Ave.
I don't want to seem unreasonable here, but why report this?  It had stopped snowing.

THE BIG MEAL...was on everyone's minds...
Of course, turkey is what Americans normally eat at their Thanksgiving Dinner.  But, around here a lot of folks like a nice hunk of deer or elk meat instead.

*People were shooting at elk and shot one in the roadway.
Yee haw!  That's pretty clever thinkin'.  It beats packing the meat out.

*Two loud gunshots were heard.
Clearly, some city folks still think that meat comes from the grocery store.

*A deer carcass was dumped in a driveway on Creek Road.
Okay, here is where the local paper gets all liberal on us.  The term is "presented"...the deer carcass was presented  to the widow lady.  That was quite neighborly.  A lot of folks git generous this time of year-that or their freezer is full.

*People on quads were harassing elk on Robins Road.
Yeeesss, "harassing" the elk.  Everyone knows that adrenaline makes the meat taste wrong. This has to be an amateurish attempt to ride an elk.  Most folks around here suspect that someone was secretly practicing fer the bull riding at the ro-dee-o.  Just sayin.'

*A driver struck a deer.
I hope this incident learned him right quick.  Folks, clean your gun each and every time you use it.  One fine day, you may find yourself in a 'fast-food' type of situation such as this one.   It was only quick thinking that saved Thanksgiving Dinner for this fellow.  It may have wrecked his car though.

Some fellows are better at eatin' than huntin'.
*A person reported that someone shot a raccoon on Creek Rd.
*A second person reported that someone shot a raccoon from their vehicle on Creek Road.
Notice that one of these "hunters" didn't even bother ta get out of his car.  I'll bet if you go and look at his barnyard, he's got the truck up on three blocks instead of the standard four.

As usual, our cowboys around here are gentlemen and won't hear of a woman soiling her pretty little hands doing the dishes.
*A man tried to push a woman out of a house on River Road.
Some ladies have a harder time than others leaving the menfolk to their duties.

KEEPIN' TRACK OF THE RELATIONS...is sometimes a difficult task...
*Three young males were being disorderly on Chestnut St.
tsk. tsk.

A lot of folks passed through town to git to their Thanksgiving Day celebration.  It's good for our town's economy because some of them stop for food or gas.   Sometimes, though, they leave more than their money in town....
*A man with long hair and a beard was yelling at people inside a business on University Way and talking about the end of the world and telling them they all were going to die.
I haven't heard if anyone has claimed this poor guy yet.  I have heard speculation that he was 'accidentally' left behind by a family passing thru town.  At some point, they are gonna have to head home and come back thru here.  I just hope they pick him up.  He's needing a bath already.

*A person wanted to know why a person is allowed to yell inside a store on Water St. and scare his children.
Son, you must be new around these here parts.  That's Kevin.  I am not sure why you felt the need to tie up our emergency line with your petty, little complaint.  Only call in the serious stuff...city man!

That's all folks.
Thanksgiving is over.

Sad faces?
Well, cheer up!

It's officially the Christmas season now!!

The Police Blotter gives a hint to the dangers ahead...

Recently a concerned citizen wrote a letter to the editor of our local, daily newspaper.  He was concerned that real crimes were not being reported.  He brought up a recent incident:  There was a sock on a bush.  His concern was that the police had responded to the report but that it was of little importance. In fact, he declared, if someone were to report a sock in a bush, there ought to be a severed foot in it!  I am sure that comment set heads to shaking and tongues to wagging.  In fact, I do believe there was a wind storm that evening. But I digress...to the person reporting the crime--there has been a crime committed.  In fact, Bruce Barton, an American author and politician once commented:

Sometimes when I consider what tremendous consequences come from little things. I am tempted to think there are no little things.

So with that reassurance in our minds today, let us consider the crimes causing Biskit to hide under the bed and tremble...(ok, she fell asleep--but she was under a great deal of emotional stress).

Toast reportedly was burned in an apartment on Mountain View Avenue and set off a fire alarm.
Now, of course, this could have resulted in a fire.  The great Chicago fire started with a lowly cow kicking over a kerosene lamp!

An elderly man in a Buick reportedly ran a stop sign.
This could have ended up with that man being charged with 'assault with a deadly weapon'--have you seen the size of those Buicks?  And like anyone, I hate to see our elderly imprisoned.

A person on West Road reportedly saw a flash.
A flash?  Are we talking aliens?  Just sayin'....I'm keeping my wits about me.

Dogs reportedly were barking on Wilson Creek Road.
This could have resulted in some real headaches.  Who knows?  Sometimes people get killer headaches.

A stray cat reportedly was in a business on University Way.
The band, 'The Stray Cats' from the 80's was here in town?  Hey, that IS news.

A big horned sheep reportedly was in the road on Thorp Highway and then went into a field and upset some horses.
Do not underestimate the financial or emotional damage that could have been caused by this critter from the dark side.  Horses are a ginormous (now that's an understatement) business and hobby here.
NO ONE UPSETS THE HORSES.
NO.
ONE.

Don't worry Biskit, I'm sure the aliens won't even think to look under the bed.

A place for everything and everything in its place.....

WAIT!!

You are 'not allowed' to read this blog
UNTIL....

you enter my contest!!!!

Look at yesterday's post to get updated!!

After looking at our Police Blotter, that old saying comes to mind:
'A place for everything and everything in its place.'
A lot of people have been rather RECKLESS
in their comings and goings this past week.

For instance:
A man on Creek Road reported that someone was
building a road through his property.

Building a roads sounds like good, wholesome fun for the whole family...it's just too bad this guy had to go and spoil the party.
Lesson Learned:  Check with the County before you start building roads willy nilly-they will let you know who enjoys a bit of road-building fun.

Live Ammunition reportedly was found
in the shrubbery on Walnut St.

Well, it has been hunting season around here.  And there has been a great deal of hunting going on..but even if you see the perfect elk on Walnut St., nobody's gonna take a shine to you opening fire on a street that includes the college and the hospital.
Lesson Learned:  It's those dad-gum city folks who make you hunt in 'designated areas.'

A man's wife sneaked through the
back door of a residence
and scared him.

There is no crime our local police can not solve. Of course, some nut jobs just want their 15 minutes of fame.
Lesson Learned:   Don't think you are getting away with anything here lil' missy!

A suspicious man reportedly pulled up
to a residence on 10th Avenue
in an ambulance.

Hmmm...this actually sounds like a well organized criminal.
Lesson Learned:  If you need the ambulance, just go down to 10th.

Well, here's a salve for your overworked brain...barn kitties!!!!

Look, they are in My Memories pages!!
DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE A COMMENT ON MY BLOG!!!!

Look at yesterday's post if you need to be updated!

Creepy Crime Time

Trick-or-Treaters swarmed our little county yesterday.  Although my family does not participate in the holiday, I do enjoy reading the articles and looking at the photos of the children posing in their costumes in our local newspaper the following day.

Who can resist those tiny, precious children dressed up in
darling, imaginative costumes
such as a princess fairy...?
or as a cowboy...?
or as a super hero...?
or...
or...
or as a zombie, blood-covered cheerleader?

##   What was "for realsies" creepy though?!....   ##

the Police Blotter...

Local police had their mittens full last night...
as the super heroes,
the princess fairies,
and...
and...those (gulp!) n i c e cheerleaders
began begging for treats and trying out their tricks...

But the real suffering began....
when the inanimate objects went rogue...

A bike was leaning up against a post for a couple of days on Sixth Avenue.
A car was following a person for two blocks on Pearl St.
An electric furnace reportedly went out on Idaho St.
(hmm...wonder where he was a goin'...)

SUDDENLY!!!!!
Paper reportedly was burning in the middle of Third Avenue.

THEN...
A ditch was on fire on Kittitas Highway!

PANIC!! and FEAR!!
(for realsies!!!)
caught like fire in the townspeople's minds...

A woman was heard yelling "hit me" on 11th Avenue.

Sadly, some were not strong enough...

A man screaming gibberish reportedly climbed to the top of a utility pole on North St.
# # #   # # #

Wow, this is kinda making me nervous....
it's plenty dark outside...
the wind is a howlin'
it's been awhile since I heard a truck or tractor drive by...
:: gasp! ::

 What lil' kitteh?
Did you hear something??

What?...What!
Speak English my dear...we are getting no where!
What do you see?
there's that noise again...
Let's get our brave guard dog!!
Yeah!
She will know what to do.

Hmmmmmmmm.....
Where IS my guard dog, Biskit?
What??!!
Ooohhh...Really?

You snore like a bear Biskit!
And don't try to tell me it was your bear!

Okies...

AFTER your coffee...
THEN you patrol.
