I'll admit it...
I LOVE BOOKS!
There's nothing quite like having a new book in your hand,
and devouring it!
What's so great about books?
Looks like I'm gonna tell you!
I love....
sitting on the edge of my seat,
(not actually, of course, but mentally)
analyzing and wondering,
waiting for the twist in the plot...
I love...
Discovering different authors,
noting which ones seem to use a formula,
delighting in the ones that don't...
I sure don't like...
ones that include incorrect grammar
(and NOT on purpose).
OR
poor sentence structure
(don't get me started!)
OR
catching editorial mistakes;
The butler is in the kitchen speaking,
but then turns and sits in the easy chair,
by the living room fire.
huh?
Simple stories
are fun because
you start to focus on the author's meaning and philosophy.
Complicated stories
are fun because
you have to keep track of multiple characters
and think about what each is about to do or say.
Bad books....
make me feel so violated and uncomfortable.
Once I've decided a book is bad,
Obviously,
I can't read it any more,
(Why, yes, that's a gooooooood thing!)
But even so...
the book goes back or to Goodwill.
why?
because a book is a book.
I can respect the author,
certainly he is entitled to his mindset...
but I will agree to disagree.
and,
I won't let anyone else make the
mistake
of reading that one!
Obviously, there are some books I just know I won't read.
So...no book bonfires,
but, I have thrown away a couple of books in my life.
They were horrible, mindless, and immoral
and thus without any redeeming quality,
I was disgusted because the
words had been read,
the thoughts and meanings had become
very clear
in my poor brain,
and
they .
wouldn't.
leave.
Walking through a library always gives me a certain thrill!
So much knowledge...
do you want to know something?
need to know?
have to know?
That subject is probably there.
In fact, more than likely,
you'll have your choice of authors and ideas!
There is one place where I love browsing...
just looking...
at the different titles, covers, authors, and story ideas.
Sometimes, I happen upon a favorite author's newest book
in hardback
for $1.99
The rows and rows of books
at the local Goodwill...
it's like a bibliophile's candy store!
It's like the ultimate box of chocolates,
you never know what you will find there.
Today, I found a
first
edition
of a popular children's book.
for $1.29.
Amazing.
