Promises: Today I am thinking about....Peace

If You can calm the sea

Then You can comfort me.

If winds obey Your voice

Why should I fear their noise?

And though my eyes can’t see

I know You’re with me.

Peace, You give me peace

When the storms come and I’m afraid.

Peace, You give me peace

When I trust in the words You say.

You give me peace.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  Colossians 3:15

God has given me His peace

so I'm going to let that rule in my heart and mind today

not my worries. 

I used to think that if I just got this one thing solved,

that my life would finally be good.

Funny thing is....

there were always more 

trials, nasty storms, and valleys with shadows of death,

tangled up with problems, complications, and difficult people

waiting around the corner,

ready to pounce, beat and strangle me!

I would fill up with fears, feel abandoned and tricked

as they continued..

Chasing, pulling, scratching...

If I have given God Himself power over me 

and trust Him to be my

guide and strength,

then..

I need enough FAITH to step aside, 

REMEMBER that God loves me,

and TRUST He will help me do what's right.

He promised!

Through every trial, every storm, and every valley with shadows of death,

I will not fear.

because He has handed me His peace,

Like a cloak, I will put His peace on,

letting it surround me...

I will look up and focus my eyes on Him.

He will be right there, by my side!

He promised!

We will walk (not cower)

through every trial, every storm, and every valley with shadows of death,

I will let Him lead me and guide me,

remembering He's been here before...

I will let His peace comfort me--

and not allow my fears to grip me,

KNOWING that

When it gets too hard for me,

I can TRUST Him to pick me up,

and carry me over the rough spots.

He promised!

Standing on the Promises of Christ, my King,

Through eternal ages let His praises ring!

Glory in the highest I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God!

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living Word of God I shall prevail,

Standing on the promises of God!

Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord,

Bound to Him eternally by love's strong cord,

Overcoming daily with the Spirit' sword,

Standing on the promises of God!

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

Listening every moment to the Spirit's call,

Resting in my Saviour a my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God!

I'm standing, standing, standing on the Promises of God my Saviour,

Standing, standing, I'm standing on the promises of God!
