We had a very exciting day here.
One of our own,
a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, is
FINALLY HOME
after being gone for 18 months in Iraq.
Even though it was short notice...our town gave him a hero's welcome.
The Boy Scouts, his church family and his many, many friends were all there.
The fire truck came first: the lights swirling and the sirens blasting!
Then came his family van.
Inside was his wife (driving), his 5 children,
and, of course,
a very shocked Lt. Colonel!!
A police cruiser was next in the procession with its lights and siren blasting.
Then, the medic truck from the fire station was last...
swirling its lights and probably blasting its horn...
who knows?
Between the sirens and the hoorays of the crowd,
it was a loud and happy homecoming
for our Lt. Colonel!!
The crowd had waving flags, banners, and boisterous cheers for his return home!
When the Lt. Colonel stepped out of his van,
a Boy Scout played the national anthem on his trumpet
as the crowd sang softly.
Our Lt. Colonel has completed a marathon of endurance...
a daily, intense, life-threatening situation.
He could trust no one around him.
But he had a deep, unwavering faith
that God would protect him.
And He did.
We all praise God...
for giving our Lt. Colonel
an amazing physical and psychological
strength and endurance
and for preserving his life.
He is safe now.
All is right here...
in our little world.
He is at home with his sweet family...
and safe.
Unfortunately, for all of us...
the Lt. Colonel and his family are moving...
in 12 days...
their belongings are already at their new post.
