Organizing! Kitchen drawer

I love to organize...but have been so so sooo busy...
organizing my and my kids' outside interests and clubs
that organizing in my own home...??
has not happened in a while.
Okay.  A looooong time.
That's about to change!

Prepare your eyes!!
The following photo has been rated: "EP"
(eye popping!)
BEFORE:

AFTER: time to put yer eye balls back in...it's all better now...

Wow!  Big difference-huh?
It took less than 15 minutes start to finish!

1.  I took everything out of the drawer-okay...dumped it all onto the countertop.
2. Then, took a moment to ponder deep thoughts...what needs to go in this drawer?  What do I need when I stand here in the kitchen, by this drawer and...???
3.  The decision was made:  This drawer helps me cook and do simple, daily tasks.
4.  I started putting everything into pile by category--how they are used.
     -knives and sharp like things
     -special use: ice cream scoop
     -spatulas
-mixing spoons     and on and on...
5.  Some things did not fit into a category.  Why?  Well, some were items for baking.  So those items went into their own pile.
6.  Some things were duplicates or no longer needed or just completely broken.  The duplicates and un-needed items went immediately into a bag to take to Goodwill.  The broken items were thrown away.
7.  I whipped up some hot, soapy water and scrubbed the inside of the drawer--I made sure that the edges and corners had their crumbs cleaned out.
8.  I washed the divider.  I also really looked at it and decided that it was perfect for the drawer.  It is adjustable, so I do have a problem with pieces of it from sliding side to side.  To stop the sliding, I put packing tape discretely in a few places.
Then I got out one of my favorite toys:  My label maker!
Labeling the drawers makes you look smart!!
Ha!
Well, actually, it insures that whoever puts away the clean dishes
will always put them in the CORRECT place.

Wouldn't that be nice?
Hmmmmm......
Loverly thought...

The knife sharpener got moved over from another drawer
and tucked in the back of the drawer...
I'm sure that will be handy when I need to sharpen a knife!
AND it keeps the plastic divider from sliding up and down.
Well...maybe I should put something under the plastic divider
to keep it from sliding around
-sticky tack? -tape it?

So that is it.  ONE drawer. DONE.
The real test was when the dishwasher got unloaded.
Except for one misplaced knife
(okay I can deal with that!)
everything got put back correctly!!

I can sleep at night!!!

Does this inspire?
Are you ready to clean up a drawer now?
I think I might just do ANOTHER drawer...
Another day!

**join me next time...when the measuring cups and rolling pin get their own special homes!
