A family vacation!!

Yes, it's true.

We had a vacation.

My

dear.

sainted.

mother-in-law

took her budget for our family's

birthdays and Christmas presents...

then added a bit more...

and gave it to us!!

For a vacation.

Just for us.

We almost didn't know what to do with ourselves!!

Almost!

We left last week on Tuesday.

We drove up to Anacortes, WA

It was a beautiful, sunny day...



We admired the flowers and the ocean while we waited...

for the ferry boat to take us to Friday Harbor on the San Juan Islands.

The ferry boat arrived and unloaded its cars and passengers...

So we loaded up onto the ferry boat along with the other cars 

on our deck of the ferry boat...

It was all rather exciting!!

We went up into the passenger area...

and enjoyed the fresh ocean wind!

We also saw some sea gulls perched on a long piece of wood...

was it wood from Japan?

The thought made us pause....

When the ferry boat landed one hour later, 

We checked into our motel room...

ate dinner...

and then toured around the island in our car.

The island isn't very big...

with mostly farms and forest.

(Lots of lavender farms)

(And little hobby farms as well)

and then headed back for a comfortable night's rest at the Earthbox Inn.

Such an awesome place!

The next time we are here, 

we are going to stay longer...

and take advantage of their free bicycles to tour the island...

and be all hipster 'n kool like that!

Tomorrow will be DAY #2 of our Family Vacation!
