For Christmas, Rose received a black, magnetic board for her dorm room.
I promised her that I would make magnets for it every month.
Remember these from January?
I was a bit s l o w in getting the ones for February made.
So, here is February!
They are hard to see.
Sad face.
I was in a hurry to get them into her box
because we were leaving in a couple of minutes for piano lessons
and from there I was taking the box to the post office.
Okay, lesson learned.
The countertop was too shiney!
Even though there is a tremendous amount of reflecting going on...
I hope you can see.
On the upper left is the first magnet.
The blue flower is chipboard.
I had the co-ordinating paper-so I punched out a little circle from it.
The chipboard has adhesive on the back,
so I just centered it on the circle, and pressed it on.
Next, I found a background paper-the blue with white lines-
and punched out a square with curvy edges.
I attached the flower/circle combo to the square
with a piece of foam tape...now it has dimension!
The flower is curvy...
The circle is a curve...
The square is curvy...
A pattern!
Happy face!!
I measured out a bit of magnetic tape and secured that to the back.
Here we are again...
The one on the bottom right is the next magnet.
I punched a curvy-edged square out of the yellow and heart patterned paper.
The paper I was using had decorative pieces to punch out...
that's always so nice.
I selected the white circle with the heart and attached that to the square
using foam tape.
Dimension!
I know it's hard to see...but the white circle has red lettering around the heart...
it says, "I love you" in a pretty script.
Once again, I measured out a bit of magnetic tape and secured it to the back.
Ta Da! Another magnet.
Look again...
I know you can see a little heart in the picture as well.
Please ignore that...the reflection from the countertop washed it out...
you can see it in the next picture...
Oh! A better picture!
The hearts are all from the same paper that I used for the last magnet...
I just punched them out and secured some magnetic tape to the backs.
Instant gratification!!
The "so cute" piece in the next magnet is another chipboard piece.
It has adhesive on the back...
AND
It's 3 dimensional!
I just punched out a curvy square of co-ordinating paper...
adhered the pop bottle top...
and then put a bit of magnetic tape on the back--
another magnet!
The next magnet is really hard to see...
use your delightful imagination here...
At the top of the picture....you can see a cute rose.
It's another piece of chipboard and is 3 dimensional.
I punched a circle out of a piece of co-ordinating paper,
and because the chipboard has adhesive on the back,
just put them together.
Now for the tricky part...
the leaves extend past the circle so the adhesive is exposed.
I adhered the leaves to tiny pieces of the co-ordinating paper...
and then trimmed it around the leaves.
I adhered a piece of magnetic tape to the back...
and that is my final magnet.
I put all of the magnets into a little bag labelled, "February"...
then carefully put them in Rose's box...
sealed it...
and then we had to go to piano lessons!
When we got home last night after piano lessons and ballet,
my husband was just hanging up the phone.
He had been talking with Rose...
who was a bit teary and homesick...
poor lil' dear.
Even though it was past 11 o'clock her time
and I knew she would be in bed-lights out!
I also knew she keeps her phone with her...
So, I grabbed my cell phone and texted her a little something...
"Kitteh! fyi sent u a pressie n mail today! i love you!"
as I pressed 'send'...
I asked the Lord to help her calm down and get a good night's sleep...
although...
sometimes it feels better to cry...
and feel a bit sorry for ourselves for a few minutes...
I hope you slept well Autumn Rose!
I hope this morning brings refreshment and renewed strength.
You can do this sweetheart!
Robbie and I will be there to visit you in 27 days.:)
