Promises: Today I am thinking about...Safety

Daisy
AKA:  Mama Kitty

must be getting to the end of her latest pregnancy...

her normal domain is the barn and the surrounding fields...
but for the past two days she has ventured into the house
for a quiet snooze on the rocking chair.

She has gotten particularly large this time...
but as always...
her fur is shiny, her eyes are bright and...
she is beautiful.

Her last days of pregnancy seem to have a routine.
She saunters into the house
large and lovely...
and grabs a quick snack from Boo's food dish,
then she gently luvs on all whom she sees,
and then jumps up onto the rocking chair
and falls asleep.

Then...
if all is quiet and she is left undisturbed...
she enjoys a long, deep, restful sleep...

She feels safe here in our home.

So do I.
But don't we all?
Even when the darkness drops
all around our busy, lighted homebox...
we feel safe.

No matter how crazily the coyotes howl
or the cougar growls...
we are ensconced in our snug home and
we feel safe.

Unexpectedly, a car pulls up in our driveway...
and we ascertain our visitor by
bolding looking out the windows because
we feel safe.

We easily close the door,
pull off our public faces  and clothes
to wrap ourselves in the comfort of home because
we feel safe.

God wants you to feel safe.
He promises you peace and rest...

When the valley of the shadow of death
is swirling all around your life...
by resting in God's arms
with his light of truth and grace glowing...you will
feel safe.

Are disappointments and heartaches
howling and clawing at your mind and heart?
Curled up in God's loving arms...
you can look out at all of it and
feel safe.

Unexpectedly, a dangerous situation appears
in your driveway...
Protected in God's arms...
you can discern the real issue and
feel safe.

It may not appear to be easy,
but the door swings with gentle pressure...
pull off your hardened mask and attitude
wrap yourself in the comfort of God's arms and
feel safe.

And when you feel safe...
you can enjoy your life...
a long, deep, restful life.

"And the peace of God,
which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:7
